Day 1 (Land's End to Okehampton)

Today was a very long wet day, not helped that I did not get a good night's sleep Either. Too excited or worried that the chosen route along the A30 was the wrong route. Land's End Hostel accommodation was a good choice with my host Suzie being very friendly. After dinner and a pint in the Last pub in the England it was off to bed. Left at 06.40 in the rain with my new best buddy Paul English, who I met last night and is also doing LEJOG. If you think I like a challenge, he is doing it carrying a backpack (see pic)
We had rain all the way today. Pleanty of tea stops. We are in Okehampton tonight. Total time was 9hrs and ride time was 7hrs 11 min and did 97 miles. Average 13.5mph.
The A30 was the right route but kept wondering if the tucks would see us. When the trucks passed it was like someone was covering us with a bucket of water. New meaning to the saying ' It's coming down in buckets'
Looking forward to tomorrow

  1. Glad to hear that all went well today. Hoping the rain will stop soon for better riding conditions! Hope you had the ice cold bath to help your legs recover.
